At the Belvidere Beer Garden, June 3, in Central City
A special event regarding the Belvidere Theatre on the south end of Main Street in Central City will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 3 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Plan to attend and find out what has been happening with the once-beautiful historic theater that dates back to the 1870s.
It has been two years since Central City took ownership of the Belvidere Theatre, thanks to the Gilpin County Commissioners who acquired the building from a negligent owner for back taxes and then transferred it to the city.
Work has been done to stabilize the façade, assess the cost of renovation, and begin to clear out the debris. The City Council has been working to acquire grants and set aside funds. But much needs to be done!
The event will be held in the Belvidere Beer Garden – the open space between the Belvidere Theatre and City Hall. Plan to attend to learn about the Belvidere’s past, present, and future.
Bring your old photos and share memories of your times inside the old theater. Listen to the music of the Jimmy Lewis Band ZEKE. Take a tour, tell us what activities and businesses you’d like to see in the building, and help plan for its future.
The rain date will be Sunday, July 8.
