A-cers and Gillbillies slug it out for top spot
The annual adult co-ed slow pitch softball league concluded its season once again with the Tonya Putnam Memorial Tournament on Saturday, July 28. The A-cers came in with the championship win for the third year in a row.
Four teams participated: the Blue Sox, Eldora, Gillbillies, and the A-cers.
The A-cers won their first two games of the day, advancing them to the championship game at 2:30 against the Gillbillies. The Gillbillies beat the A-cers in the first game, but since it was double elimination and the A-cers had not lost a tournament game yet, the Gillbillies had to beat the A-cers again to be victorious.
However, it was not meant to be for the Gillbillies. The A-cers won the second game 13-6 to celebrate the championship once again.
Pat Putnam, Tonya’s mother, presented the champions with the trophy this year.
