PRESS RELEASE – Gilpin County Senior Living announced that Sandy Hollingsworth, Social Worker in Gerontology, joined the Board of Directors in March. Sandy brings her experience in senior housing and community resources expertise to the Board. She has more than 30 years of public service most recently with the City of Boulder Housing and Human Services and City Housing Authority for a combined 25 years. While at the Housing Authority she oversaw the implementation of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act 1990) legislation into the housing policies and practices. She started as a caseworker, was promoted to Program Manager leading a team of resource referral specialists and served as the Acting Manager of the Division of Senior Services for over two years.
Sandy created programs through community collaborations with countywide agencies and private businesses. These include caregiver education classes, respite volunteers, bill payer volunteers, older driver safety in partnership with law enforcement, senior law and resource events, and holiday baskets delivered to isolated elders. She served on the County Emergency Operations Center Special Needs Shelter task force.
Sandy has resided in Gilpin County and been married since 1998 and was the primary caregiver for her own parents. She is active with many committees and groups in Gilpin County.
