Robert (Bob) Walsh remembered

February 15, 1931 – October 28, 2014

Timberline Fire Protection District is sad to announce the passing of retiree and long-time member Robert (Bob) Walsh.

Bob was born in Estherville Iowa, on February 15, 1931. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Bob moved to Commerce City, Colorado in 1955.

He bought property in Dory Lakes in 1981 and started to construct his dream house in the mountains. He became a full time resident of Gilpin County in 1990 upon his retirement from Lucent.

Bob served as a member of South Adams County Fire Dept. for nine years. He volunteered with Colorado Sierra and Timberline Fire for 23 years. He was a skilled firefighter and truck engineer, and a multiple winner of the Firefighter of the Year Award. Bob continued to respond to calls into his 80’s and after retirement continued to be a fixture at Station 6.

Bob was an active member of the community and was often seen at Gilpin County Commissioner’s meetings, at Timberline Board meetings, and doing various projects in the Dory Lakes Subdivision. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need and will be missed by family, friends and brother and sister firefighters.

He is survived by his beloved wife Sally, sons Stephen and Kevin, three grandchildren, four brothers, and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

He was laid to rest in Fort Logan Cemetery on November 5, 2014.
