Jim Chase remembered

October 8, 1918 – January 7, 2018

James (Jim) A. Chase passed away peacefully on January 7, 2018. Jim was born in Central City, Colorado on October 8, 1918 to Anna and James Chase. Anna died when Jim was a newborn in the 1918 influenza epidemic while his father James was in the Army, so Jim was raised by his Aunt Mary and Uncle Billy Hamilton in Central City.

Jim married Marguerite Zancanella in February of 1950, they moved to Pleasant View in 1958 where he lived until two days before his 99th birthday. Jim loved and cared for Marguerite until her passing in December 2009; they had been married for 59 years.

Jim worked for Jenkins McKay Hardware in Central City before going into the Army where he served honorably from 1942 to 1952 including his reserve time, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. When he returned home he worked for Coors Brewing Company in Golden until 1977.

Jim is survived by his brother-in-law David Zancanella and his wife June, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Jim joins his beloved wife Marguerite, his Aunt and Uncle Billy & Mary Hamilton, and his parents James & Anna, in eternal life.

A graveside service will be held at the Golden Cemetery (755 Ulysses Street, Golden, CO 80401) on Friday January 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
