Gilpin County’s Middle School wrestling team began their season January 17 with a tournament in Bennett. Coach Royce McLain provided statistics for the Register-Call.

Eighth grader Dante Nadeau, in the 80-pound weight class, won both of his matches, but his classmate Uriah Hockley was unsuccessful in his two matches.

Seventh grader Josh Trujillo, in the 95-pound weight class, had two matches, with one win and one loss. Fellow seventh grader Jack Ball, in the 75-pound class, wrestled five matches with no wins.

Levi James, a sixth grader in the 100-pound class, also faced tough opposition, as he lost both of his two matches. Jake Duncan was out with an injury.

The team fared slightly better in their tournament with Fitzsimmons on January 29.

Nadeau won two of his matches and lost one.
