PRESS RELEASE – Gilpin students competed in the Colorado High School Regional Science Bowl on Saturday, March 16 at Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton.

The Bowl, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, is a highly competitive science event among teams of high school students who compete in a fast-paced verbal forum to solve technical problems and answer questions in all branches of science and math.

Gilpin science teacher Heather Newman advised that there were 36 teams from 21 different schools at the event.

“Gilpin’s sophomore team worked hard all year practicing for the competition. During the matches they were able to do well, but they weren’t able to win a match. They had three losses,” Newman reported.

“Gilpin’s senior team consists of some great students who are graduating this year and will be missed. They won one match and lost two.”
