Central City Summer Events Set to Sizzle!

PRESS RELEASE – Central City is pulling out all the stops for its summer event schedule, with Colorado distillery and beer festivals, a bacon tasting and tour, chili cook off and an 80s festival, with live music Saturdays all summer.

An ideal way to cool off during the hot summer months, all events will take place on Central City’s historic 1880’s main street. Designed for a New Orleans Bourbon Street feel, guests will be allowed to bring cocktails and drinks in and out of the casinos and into the street all summer festival Saturdays.

Here is a taste of Central City excitement this summer.

July 13Stills in the Hills–Colorado Distillers Tasting featuring Dave Alvin and The Guilty One’s, Big Sandy and his Fly Rite Boys and Ethyl and The Regulars.  The event takes place Noon to 7 pm, with unlimited distilled spirits tasting (over ten confirmed distilleries featuring over fifty spirits), entertainment, and food and merchandise booths. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on-site. Tickets are available at all King Soopers and http://ticketswest.rdln.com/

July 20Central City goes Back to the Future: 80’s Festival featuring The Raygunomics, Jewel and the Rough and Tres Equis (ZZ Top tribute show).  The event takes place from 3pm to 11pm, with awards given to the best 80’s outfit, best 80’s hair, with entertainment, food and  merchandise booths. This event is free to the public.

August 3Blues, Brews and BBQ featuring Shemekia Copeland, David Booker and his large blues band and Dave Booker combo.  The event takes place Noon-7 pm. This event is free to the public, with entertainment, BBQ, merchandise booths and select craft brewed beers.

August 10Chili Cook-off and Heritage Festival featuring, from Austin TX, The Derailers and The Bellfuries.  This event takes place from Noon-7pm, with a public and commercial chili cook-off.  Cook off entry is $15 per entry for chili, free tastings for spectators, official judges and including a people’s choice award, with cash prizes for winners.  Chili categories include both a red and green chili, with entertainment and merchandise booths. This event is free to the public.

August 17Tender Belly presents the Central City Bacon Tour featuring Chris Daniels and The Kings and Dan Treanor’s Afrosippi Blues Band featuring Erica Brown.  The event takes place from Noon to 7 pm, with unlimited Tender Belly bacon tastings, chef-inspired bacon-themed appetizers (with admission), entertainment, food and merchandise booths. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on-site. Tickets are available at all King Soopers and http://ticketswest.rdln.com/.

August 24Great Central City Beer Fest featuring The Young Dubliners, Marty Jones Band and Jewel and the Rough.  The event takes place from Noon to 7 pm, with Colorado craft brewery beer samplings, entertainment, food and merchandise booths. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 on-site. Tickets are available at all King Soopers and http://ticketswest.rdln.com/.

September 14Mexican Independence Day featuring Manuel Molina Combo International, El Mariachi International and Grupo Son 3 Mexican Cumbias.  The event takes place Noon to 7pm, with entertainment and dancing, Hispanic foods and merchandise booths. This event is free to the public.

September 21Oktoberfest featuring The Tom Allen Grengs Polka band and Jim Ehrlich and the Polkamates.  This event is from Noon to 7 pm, with Bavarian entertainment German foods and merchandise booths. This event is free to the public.
