A great day in Strasburg for Gilpin Wrestlers

Gomez, Brewer, and Wenholz take wins

This week’s tournament in Strasburg, Colorado was a success for the Gilpin wrestlers and the team took home multiple wins. Angel Gomez started the team off with the first win of the day against Zachary Bayens from Bellvue, Colorado.

Kamron Brewer followed with a win against Joe Corbino from Brighton, Colorado. Last, Mike Wenholz ended up taking third in his weight class of 132 lbs. His first win was against Hunter Paiz from Center, Colorado, then followed by his quickest pin yet against Teagan Boughton from Yoder, Colorado, taking only 24 seconds. Finally, he had yet another quick pin taking 54 seconds against Connor Lee from Thornton, Colorado.

Overall the team had a very successful day. They are back in practice getting ready for their first home events. This Wednesday the 23rd they have a Tri-meet, then another tournament again on Saturday the 26th, both at Gilpin high school.
